secret’s out
as of now, anyway. I turned in my two weeks notice at work last Thursday. Soon I’ll only be employed at the college…that’s part time.

this morning I finished up taking notes for this chapter (to the extent that I can), and laid out the pattern with which I will go through each of the mythological tales.
After that, i wrote 10 pages.
I plan on getting through the Scandinavian section today, HOPEFULLY, which will PROBABLY get me to page limit.
Then I’ve just got the Greek myth section, a comparative end of this chapter, and a conclusion chapter. w00-f’ing-h00!
it’s not ok to do drugs…unless a doctor prescribes them. They’re medically trained to know how uncool you are and exactly what kind of drug will make you hip.
is kicking my ass. This morning the toilet and I had a lovely conversation about how my stomach didn’t have anything to throw up. It was good times.
I would drink tea, but I gave it up for lent. Poor planning on my part. As such, I’m suckin’ down some juice, water, and dr. pepper. Heavens forfend, dr. pepper! yes, dr. pepper. So sue me, I gotta get my caffeine somehow, otherwise I’ll have a headache to go with the general nausea, fever, and body aches.
Anyway, I tried some tylenol flu and that stuff was WORTHLESS. Regular tylenol, on the other hand, breaks the fever. Good times.
Anyway, after getting some bread in me, I’ve been ok for the rest of the day, outside of the coughing and runny nose. This is the worst I’ve been sick in ages. Ugh. damned airlines.
you don’t get infected with a dry wracking cough that is horrendously painful, shared by seat 20A.
Thanks buddy.
are good and bad, I think…esp. in college classes. Bad because they take up an entire week’s worth of class time. Good because the students need some face time to go over things exactly on what can be improved or what they did well…sometimes the typed up sheets are just ignored for the glorious number of a grade that they get.
overall though, things are going well…this year I’ve done a few things that make my life easier that I’ve picked up along the way.
One: always type up your responses to the papers, this will give you something to check for improvements from paper to paper.
Two: write assignments and papers that build progressively. By the time my students get to their research paper, they will have already done three papers and many assignments on how to quote, format, and choose sources…so the biggest thing will be the length for them.
Three: keep explaining throughout the semester the pedagogical reasoning behind what they are doing as assignments and papers, and put this reasoning in terms of their future classes over their college career. Sure they may not exactly like doing the work, but when they know why they’re doing it, they aren’t quite as eager to screw around…especially when the work can be directly applied to their formal papers that they hand in.
Four: don’t sweat the small stuff. Seriously, use antiperspirant. C’mon.
Though last night I felt like it…holy buckets did nausea come on quick, and my supper came up even quicker. Made it to the toilet on time, so that was good.
in other news: no, I didn’t go camping last Friday. I worked on the dissertation and have been spending what free time I have playing Fallout 3 on the xbox.
that and work. Uff da.
Yesterday I made tortillas from scratch, they tasted fantastic. Had some friends over for a taco feed. No one else got sick, so it wasn’t my cooking. Double uff da.
I’ll be back in God’s Country this weekend for some shenanigans. I fly into minneapolis tomorrow night at 6, and then fly out sunday from the cities at 2. Good times.
cut way into my productivity this morning. I got 5 pages done, plus 4 on wednesday. 35 to go. I’m going to take a nap now, and then I’ve got a choice: go camping tonight, or get some notes taken for a hyper-write-session tomorrow.
We’ll see what I decide.
this blog is becoming it, and I ain’t got no apologies.
6 more pages down today.
