last week
was a long week. We got a new house to move into and that’s this week’s hassle. I got all my books, video games and dvds and TV over there this weekend. Now it’s the kitchen stuff, clothes and misc left. I’m going to try get the big stuff such as bookcases bed and tables over there this thursday or friday.
moving is kind of a hassle.
On the plus side, we are getting a free washer, I picked up a free dryer today, and someone is letting us use their mini fridge until we can find one of our own. They’re out there on craigslist, but I’m waiting until a good deal pops up.
Good times, good times.
The worst part about moving is getting your cable/internet moved over. Can someone explain to me why it takes TWO DAYS TOPS for someone from the utilities company to come over and hook up your electricity, water or gas, while it takes 10 days for someone to come over to hook up cable? What the deuce?
Stupid cable companies. As such, I’ll be driving back and forth each day until the 24th in order to work. That sorta sucks, but I’m not moved into the new place quite yet so it’ll have to do.
You say ‘we’, so you have a roommate? That will save on rent, huh?
Comment by Sharon — 7/15/2008 @ 8:33 pmAs someone who works for a cable company, I wish I could give you a reason why it takes so long, besides that we need more installers and demand for service seems to only go up! A company called Clearwire (and I am sure others) does internet installs super fast, but it is the easiest install ever - all they do is plug in the box, no wires thanks to wireless towers… With normal cable like ours you have to program it in-house thru 3 depts, wire it up at the site approx 1-2 miles away from the house, then go out the house, wire up X TVs, X phone jacks, inet, etc and it takes forevern(especially in older houses not wired for cat5). Most installers can only get a few installs done in a day because of that and trouble calls, and we have probably 10-12 installers and probably about 40-50 installs per day. It is insane!
