I had this genius idea to post about tetherball, and the court in my parent’s backyard(in between the barn and the garage, next to the hayfilled archery target), but then I started writing it, and it just wasn’t there.

I’ve got tutoring 6 days out of each week from now until the end of May.

On the one hand, I’m happy because it gives me something to do and while it doesn’t pay WELL, it pays enough.

On the other hand, I’m bummed because then everything gets smooshed together and it’s going to be busy.

Such is life though, I’ll make it through no probs.

I’ve been thinking, people keep bringing up the fact that Pacifica’s classes will end soon..or well, to be honest, it’s probably me bringing that up. I’ve got the # of days we meet, # of sessions, and #of papers counting down (15, 4, and 5).

And people are always wondering if I’m sick of the program when I let them know stuff like this. And I had a hard time answering that until I figured it out…the program is no worse/better than it has been in the past. It’s not the program at all. It’s me.

I think a lot of it has to do with NOT taking a break between undergrad and grad school. Most of these people are coming back after 10-15 years at the LEAST away from school. I haven’t had those years off from academia. I can’t wait to actually do something different(other than the diss, but that’s not an issue) and not have papers due every three months and have to be somewhere for 3 days every month that’d take me away from a job.

The real world is a-callin’, and I can’t wait.

But right now, I’ve got a monster headache from class today.

I think that the jesuits sinking the titanic is my favorite.

So apparently, the french space agency has opened a website about their UFO research.

Apparently so much interest was garnered that the website crashed.

The French government released a statement assuring the public that there’s nothing to worry about…they’ve already surrendered to the blinking lights in the sky. On numerous occasions.

that was one of the places I was thinking about last year before I figured I should move next to pacifica.

it’s a university town, rent is on part with bummage, and I actually know people around there.

maybe? We’ll see.

1. $(#*&’n affordable rent.

I can’t tell you how much productivity MAY have been damaged these last 6 months(it’s been 6 months already? what the deuce!) with trying to figure out how to pay bills. But it’s definitely been damaged.

And some may be thinking: He’s got 6 monhts yet, what’s he worried about? And in response to that, I say: last time I began planning about 2.5 months PRIOR to the move. That was no where near enough time.

Plus, I just found out that the library will ship out books, starting at $5.50 for the first one, and 50 cents for each one following that. Coupled with the ability to renew online, having to be near this library is a concern no longer relevant to finding a place to live. It’s all up in the air now that I’ve made the decision that I’m going to HAVE to move somewhere less expensive. Maybe back to bemidji while I finish the dissertation? There’s worse places to be.

I’ve got a couple of friends that stopped over for an afternoon/evening.

They leave tomorrow morning after breakfast.

Best thing? I found a kick-ass beach/park area…and it has a pirate ship hooked up with a zip line!

It’s totally sweet.

I like drinking it, I like talking about it, I like blogging about it, and in t-minus 5 months, I’ll be writing a dissertation involving it.

with those two incomplete papers.

They need massive editing yet, and that’s tonight’s and tomorrow’s job. Then, on Monday, I can mail them in and be done with Fall quarter’s papers.

The sense of relief is definitely palpable.
