Bugs worked out
Turns out that a “power cycle” is what I needed. And if anyone is having problems with their internet from Paul Bunyan Net at home(as I was for roughly THE LAST TWO YEARS!!!) here’s what you do:
First off, it’s not the router. I know Josh said that it was the Linksys router, but that isn’t the case. It’s working flawlessly now. Instead, what needs to be done when hooking a router to a modem is a Power Cycle.
What needs to occur is to unplug the modem and leave it unplugged for two minutes or so. Do the same with the router. The reason for this, according to the tech guy I talked to this afternoon, is that this will give it time to wipe clean the IP Address received from the isp. Once you’ve plugged ‘em all in again, restart the comps you’ve got connected (either by wireless or by cable) and you should be golden.
Man, I wish I’d thought of that ages ago.
Thanks Wave Broadband!
