the job.

so today we were talking, and I told them that the file work that I was doing made me bored out of my skull. and then they asked what I’d rather be doing and I said, well, may as well be this because it needs to be done.

this was all said in a joking manner, so no one was insanely insulted. Also, there was fresh paint on the walls that was being painted and I think there were fumes from that that increased some of the irritation.

but it finally came out after a while that my worry about the job was that there wasn’t enough to keep me busy. I told them that after everything is organized(which is a close reality right now), the job doesn’t really have enough to do for full time. And so they gave me the option that I could decrease my hours if I wanted to. I told them I’d think about it. It makes me kind of sad that I’ll be moving out to california now, because this job is practically perfect. The only issue is that I need to be somewhere else.

They said the job was based for full time hours because that’s what they were judging from the last person who held it. They said I’ve accomplished more in the month and a half that I”ve worked there than the last person did in 6 months. High praise indeed, but to tell the truth, since it’s a small business I don’t want to be ripping them off if I’m working full time, and then not having anything to do.

One thing that I’m going to suggest when I turn in my notice in the next week or two, that they consider keeping me on working over the internet, but down to 2 or 3 hours a day tops. This allows them to keep a good trained worker doing what they need me to do, but unfortunately it deprives them of the office help that they had full time.

I don’t know. we’ll see. It’d be nice to continue doing this part time, because it is something that I don’t mind doing, and I’d be doing just enough to keep myself busy and not feel like I’m ripping them off.

we’ll see. Because at this job, the employers actually care about the employees. it’s such a bizzarre situation.
