First an apology to all of you on dial up service, this is picture heavy, though I tried to keep them small.
all right, these pictures are all starting in san francisco. the reason? Iowa and Nebraska are boring, and I forgot to take pictures as I drove through utah. My bad. Anyhoos. The san fran stuff began when we went to visit my Uncle Mike’s office with the army corps of engineers.

He had this “snowglobe” there…the point was to try to get the golf ball to stay on the tee. I spent like half an hour on the $#*&@ thing, and still no go. It’s tougher than it looks.
After that, we got on an old fashioned trolley, which was pretty cool, though spendy.

this is looking up one of the hills, and you can see my uncle’s face on the left side of the picture.
While on the trolley, I took the following shot:

This is looking down the main street of chinatown. Which I promptly forgot.
We made our way down to fisherman’s wharf, and saw all the sites down there.

the little island more or less in the center(freakin’ cell phone cameras! freakin’ idiot who forgot his regular camera!) is alcatraz.
Well, the following day I took off, and got to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Then I made my way up to Eugene, OR. I took some shots of the mist amongst the mountains that was pretty keen.

Then, the next day I drove past the dalles and the columbia river. Not much has changed, as you can see from these shots, since the old days.

of course, there are a few modern conveniences like dams.

these cause never-ending suffering for those people who choose to float down the columbia instead of taking the trail.
After that, nothing much happened, as I was in montana. However, just after the debacle with the cracked tire situation, This happened:

Yep! My car has 100,000 miles on it now. Not that I really care, because cars are cars, and I’ll probably drive this one until it dies. Good times.
And that’s the raod trip. Whee!
