never thought I’d live to see the day…

when a movie was better than the book.

I finally, after 25 years of hearing how good it was, got around to watching the godfather. I had read the book about a month ago, so I felt it was time to see the movie.

It was really good. Actually better than the book, due to numerous factors(no repetition of descriptive phrases(puzo did that all the time), no unnecessary digressions into minor characters unimportant to the main tale, and just all around tight focus on the important story which the book shotguns(speaking of shotguns, we were shooting clay pigeons today, fun fun)).

So to wrap up, the godfather movie is better than the godfather book.

Almost as long too.

exhausted

maybe I’m a recluse by nature, I don’t know. Hanging out with family all day yesterday and today has really tired me out. And it’s like this each and everytime that there’s a big to do. If I hang out with ‘em 2 days in a row(it’ll be three tomorrow) it’s like I don’t have enough time for my mind to get balanced out again.

I need my alone time.

funniest line

in quite a long while, that I’ve come across, is from Sue:

But I did get some strawberry shortcake today. That made me happy. Had a little party in my mouth, I did.

Now, I’m not entirely certain as to the why it struck me as so very funny, it may be the sentence construction on the last part, the extraneaous “I did” at the end. After the rest of the post, which is also funny(esp. the real man line!), but in a fairly consistent voice, then to be struck with this…

I could hear the english street urchin voice, and indeed could see “guv’ner” at the end. I don’t know if it was intended or not, but that’s how I read it.

Maybe that’s why it’s so funny, consistent tone and funny throughout, until that line, and the complete change of voice in addition to one of the funniest phrases(party in my mouth), maybe that’s it.

Anyhoos, enough analyzing the bizzarro reasons I may find something funny. You should all read Sue’s post, and be entertained. Well played, Sue, Well Played.
