Camping

So I was flipping through the Reader’s Digest this month, and they showed a camper trailer. and I had the insane need suddenly to go camping. I’ve sorta always wanted to try camping out for more than a day.

So, this summer, that’s what I’ll be doing the weekends I’ve got off. I just don’t have any specific spots to go. I am thinking for my road trip at the end of may(I’ve got school the 22-24th, and a friend whom I’ve not seen for years will be in san fran the next couple of days, so i’m going to drive out there), and so perhaps camping wouldn’t be a bad idea. That’s how I’d like to start the summer, but then I’ve got 3 months to do stuff like this. Maybe go to Folk Fest up in winnipeg? Who knows.

Two things:
1. I need ideas for camping spots(good ones, with hiking and such) to visit during the summer(not necessarily just on the road trip)
2. I need people to join me on these little outings.

World Lit Comp Exam

received the “pass” mark, and about 3 pages(I printed them off, it’s a full 6 pages) of comments on the direction that the paper could have been taken.

which, undoubtedly, I would have taken those directions, had not I been limited to 3 days and 8 pages.

that sort of criticism is KIND OF irritating on a timed paper with limited space.

but ’s ok, that’s the last comp for BSU. passed all of ‘em, with no need to redo them.

now it’s getting remarks on the thesis from the advisors, and the oral defense. sweet.

added later:these comp comments still irritate me, in re-reading them, he brings up every single example that I would have used, and then explains them as if I wouldn’t have any knowledge of them. aaggghh…this criticism is starting to get under my skin. I need to sleep/take a nap. That’s the best way for getting over it. but being told about things I already know, and how I should have used them all, and in an unrealistic amount of space really really gets to me. and I’m at work, so it’s not helping any of my attitude.

added much later(9PM):I had supper, and work hasn’t been too bad tonight, so I’m calmed down. Still sorta irritated, but I’ll get over it. two hours of this hole left

This was a great show

Eerie, Indiana.

one of my favorites when it was on reruns on the disney channel.

Some background: the disney channel was one of 6 channels we had as kids(we had that HUGE FREAKIN’ SATTELITE DISH(that undoubtedly could have been used to measure radiation off of Uranus(heeheehee(I’m a horrible person)))). The other channels were: TBS, ESPN, Family Channel, WGN, and USA. and maybe we had TNT, too…I think that one faded in and out.

So consequently, I didn’t get up to date shows. I got reruns of saved by the bell, duck tales, rescue rangers, and all of those. Two years after they were released. But that was ok, it only messed me up for my adult life and made me choose to go into English and Mythological studies. They were right, tv IS damaging to chillens’ minds.

Got a little off track there. But anyway, Eerie, Indiana was a brilliant show.

The DaVinci Legal Code

has been cracked, and Dan Brown is not guilty of copying stuff.

Much as I’m not a fan of his books(they’re well paced, well thought out, but I’m not a fan of the mystery novel), he’s right about this:

A novelist must be free to “draw appropriately” from historical works without facing a court and having his integrity called into question, he said.
