Gladiator vs 13th Warrior
Ok, first thing to note here: I can’t watch gladiator without liberal use of the fast forward. because, let’s face it, the movie is boring in between the fighting. thank goodness for movies like the 13th warrior which KNOWS that there’d better be some o’ the violence every 15-20 minutes. good times.
also, as I’m studying more and more of the scandinavian mythology and religion pre-christian, I’ve yet to see a movie capture it so well as the 13th warrior.
the 13th warrior, interesting trivia, is based off a crichton book which is itself based off of an arabian account of the northmen, and chricton tossed in beowulf too.
interesting sidenote: two movies recently deal with this, “beowulf and grendel” from 2005, and “beowulf” from 2007 starring anthony hopkins as king hrothgar. how cool is that?
interesting sidenote #2: I’m bored.
