Editing The Comp

so far I’ve cut it from 12 double spaced pages down to 10.5.

not certain how much more I can cut without starting to cut out the sense it’s making.

a bit of a break here, and then back to it.

The Sword and the Sorcerer

for the first hour and 29 minutes of this hour and a half movie, I was worried that I wasted $15. Originally it was a purchase for the barbarian party, but never got around to viewing it.

anyway, same ol’ story, warrior is depossessed of a kingdom, involved in litigatious combat to win it back, and on the way meets beautiful woman who falls for him.

boring. I was worried, as I said, that I wasted my money.

and then the last 30 seconds of the film…fantastic. She mentions something about business they have together(giggidy giggidy), and he’s all like “you’re right, baby”…and then what do they do? Out of all the possibilities, all the possible generic endings that are too overwrought for their own good and that have been hinted at throughout the entire movie….what do they do?

THEY SWING ACROSS THE COURTYARD ON A BANNER FOR NO GOOD REASON!!!!

The war’s over, they show all the dead guards. Everyone who has survived is happy. There is absolutely no reason on this green earth explaining why they should pull such a stunt with the upholstery, yet they do. They totally jump on a cut banner and swing.

Extraneous banner swinging in a movie about barbarians.

totally worth it.
