Omar Jamal is an example of one of the muslims that I wish would learn from this debacle…that the U.S. is NOT the one significantly adding to the fire here, it is the minorities in Islam that are calling for death to the infidels, and are burning down embassies. Yet in Omar’s own words:

It renders me speechless that the Islamic, evangelical Christian and Jewish extremists are more similar than they are different. These groups would like to reduce very serious political, social and economic issues into trifling campaigns of us vs. them. Their conviction of absolute truth forecloses any possible dialogue leading to human progress and good governance.
It is about time that the United States took a different road from that of polarization and antagonism. It has been the road map of this administration to act unilaterally, both domestically and internationally, in an era that demands it work in partnership with the rest of the world.

the fact that he starts out saying that the fundamentalists and extremists are the problem, and then what does he do? Lay the blame completely on the United States. It isn’t the fundies that need to wake up, it isn’t the rest of Islam who needs to control these extremists, it is our government that needs to change. What.the.flying.f*&k?

Jonah Goldberg has a better view of the matter, though I won’t say unbiased. He does however put some of the blame on the danes for publishing the cartoons to inflame muslims. It is a more even-toned peice, and I highly suggest you read it.
