Academic Parrots
irritate me. For instance, the term Judeo-Christian.
can anyone tell me why they’d use this term rather than just ‘christian’?
I’ll tell you why the majority of people out here use it(when either Jewish or Christian would do): they read it in a book, or heard a professor use it once, and now they’ve got to say it everytime they can, even when it makes more cognitive sense to say just christian, or just jewish. They use if for every idea, regardless of if it is unique to one faith or the other, they use it for both.
just like archetypes, mythology and sacrifice: these people toss around words like that with no concept of what they ought to mean. And they’re not joking about it, like I would in their situation. They’re serious.
I hate academic parrots.
