the office on saturdays

is nice, because there’s no one else here, and I don’t have to put headphones in.

and I can get a lot of work done. Although I do feel bad about missing shanghai sloppy joes.

aahhh…

satisfying.

that’s what it is. I’ve got two papers ready for editing and revising. typing up one of them on my typewriter…I got 2 and a half typed pages. Double spaced and put on the comp in times new roman…we’re looking at about 8 pages. And with revising, toss that up to 10.

It feels good. This writing of academic papers. I seem to have overcome my block.

Thank God, because I was running out of ye olde self confidence.

what’s my point? in the immortal words of bucky katt: *%&$ you, that’s my point.

ethical conundrum

today I received a check for $30 in the mail. From blue cross, who was my insurance provider back in 2001 when they won a big case against tobacco companies.

I didn’t agree with a lawsuit then, and I don’t agree with the lawsuit as it stands now in paying out.

So, in my ethical problems, ought I cash the check, thus giving my approval for their somewhat shady actions of suing a successful business? Ought I send it back and say “no thanks for your work, you bloodthirsty highwaymen!”? Ought I cash the check, but spend the thirty bucks getting really nice paper to type up my angry response to how stupid lawsuits are?

Man. I hope I can figure this one out before the 10 months are up…because after that, I can’t cash the check.
