if I hear….

about how innovative and ground breaking the beatles are ONE MORE TIME, I’m going to puke.

sure they were innovative, but how many other innovative musicians have been swept under the rug because they weren’t 4 white well dressed british pop musicians before getting bored of pandering to the masses?

and yet they’re never brought up. because they weren’t pop stars first.

Look, I don’t care how innovative they were, and if today’s music is a descendent of what they’ve done, ALL THE MORE REASON FOR ME TO HATE THEM. C’mon. American Idol? Train? CREED??? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CREED!?!?!?!?

and yet you people still worship the beatles…this is their legacy. Look ye upon it and despair.

the beatles

let me say this: I don’t think they’re that great. I don’t think they’re God’s gift to mankind. I do think that Elvis rocks. If you think Elvis doesn’t rock, I suggest getting your hands on the collection cd that was put out a couple years back, his songs are, on the whole, better than the schlock you hear on the radio. He’s a fantastic performer. Do I think Elvis is on par with songwriters? Probably not.

The beatles…how do I begin? Perhaps I didn’t like them for this reason: everyone else LOVED them passionately, zealously, and fanatically. I didn’t think they were that good. I have trouble believing that any band, group, or celebrity is worth that much adoration.

Even now, when someone says they were just passable, with some catchy tunes, it unleashes a flurry of retorts, recriminations, finger pointing, nose lifting, and much despisation.

That can’t be right, but such is life.

I am just going to say that the beatles are an all around all right band, no better/worse than led zeppelin, the doors, bob dylan, audioslave, the bee gees, or the white stripes. They are all good musicians, innovative song writers(on the whole), but c’mon. They aren’t worth it.

I’ll tell you what is worth this kind of devotion: Iced cream. We can argue about Iced cream all day, but music…it leaves me *snicker* cold.

that’s right. I just mixed in a horrible pun with a beatles discussion. Lennon best be rolling in his grave.

obligations

sometimes you ask for them. sometimes they are thrust upon you.

and then sometimes, you can’t fulfill them. Due to several different reasons, from the innate inability to uphold them, to the unwillingness of the person(that the obligation is owed to) to support the fulfillment of said obligations.

suffice to say, sometimes attachments must needs be broken, obligations failed, and help refused in order for change to take place. whether that change is good or bad is up to the others.
