out of shape

I could only do .8 of a mile running. oh the shame!

I picked up the other .2 after 3 minutes of walking, but even so…

Oh well. Now I know what I need to work for. By the end of the week: 1.5 miles.

another thing that would help is some decent running music…shakira and Big & Rich don’t cut it. Evanescence only works if you’re used to the temp of running and need to zone.

Time to break out the 80’s rock.

a temporary(?) houseguest

is in my entry way. The dirty white cat came back, all wet and happy to see me. Front paws are declawed and the back ones seem to be clipped. It didn’t seem to plussed about going any distance away from the trailer when I tried to let it out again.

it walked about 5 feet away turned and looked at me, and whne I went out there…rubbed against my leg and walked into the house.

but I put signs up around the trailer court, so hopefully the owner had a lapse of judgement and the cat escaped, and wasn’t just left on the side of the road.

We’ll see.

Payment/Billing of Fire Ring Voices

so the people at BSU have been giving Holly the run around about getting the book paid for. THey’ve not told Arrow Printing anything.

Well, now they’ve got me to deal with. And I’m not going to be polite like I’m sure Holly was.

Arrow called me…this is no longer between BSU and fire ring voices, this time it is MY problem, and I’m not going to let up on these fucking assholes until the bill is paid.

Because I’ll tell you, as a former small business owner, I know what $1600 means. And I know exactly how to motivate academics: You yell and swear at them until something is done.

It’s the Sean Froyd© way. And it’s got proven results.

Fire Ring Voices REVENGE

What the flying fuck????

I just received a call from arrow printing today about the fire ring voices book.

It has not been paid for yet. They aren’t very happy.

And of course, this being summer vacation NO ONE IS AROUND WHO SHOULD BE.

And people on the editing board may have wondered why I was NOT going to be part of it next year, this is the perfect case in point. I’m tired of having to tie up loose ends that should have been taken care of(and these ends that I was TOLD were taken care of) 2 months after the fact.

it’s reasons like these that I suppose it can’t be taken off campus…irresponsibility regarding real world concerns like bills that just seem to somehow NEVER GET SOLVED UNLESS SOMEONE IS RIDING THOSE IN CHARGE.

car/cat troubles

replacement starter: $80
satisfaction that it was the starter, and not just ‘the computer getting old’ as some friend of my grandparents told me: priceless.

and then there’s this completely white cat that showed up on my doorstep this afternoon. I put some food out for her/him…must be a domesticated cat, clawless.

maybe I’ll have two cats if he/she is still out there in a couple hours. currently it’s under my porch chowing down on some cat food.

personality

The words “many are called, but few are chosen” are singularly appropriate here, for the development of personality from the germ-state to full consciousness is at once a charisma and a curse, because its first fruit is the conscious and unavoidable segregation of the single individual from the undifferentiated and unconscious herd. This means isolation, and there is no more comforting word for it. Neither family nor society nor position can save him from this fate, nor yet the most successful adaptation to his environment, however smoothly he fits in. The development of personality is a favour that must be paid for dearly. But the people who talk most loudly about developing their personalities are the very ones who are least mindful of the results, which are such as to frighten away all weaker spirits.
Yet the development of personality means more than just the fear of hatching forth monsters, or of isolation. It also means fidelity to the law of one’s own being.”
–C.G. Jung, The Essential Jung, Selected Writings, pg 197.

hmmm.
