Guild Wars: First Impressions

combat is fast, if you’re not used to it, and you’re not good, you’re dead. I died like 10 times when I was a level one guy trying to kill some beasties. It was kind of embarrassing.

leveling up is pretty easy, I’m up to a level 7 after approximately 6 hours of play. pretty decent. The problem I’ve run into so far is that the experience given for these ‘quests’ is pretty sad. And don’t get me started on the quests so far…good god, fetch quests. all over the place fetch quests. I do have to say though, that the warp points they have put in the game as of yet are well placed, I just wish there were more of them. Ah well. something like diablo 2 warping would be key.

I haven’t gotten into the armor/weapon manufacturing yet, but that seems to be pretty cool.

Yeah, you’re all wondering about multiplayer right? The title is guildwars, after all. You’re going to have to go to a different site, homey don’t play multiplayer. Yet. I think once I’m a level 10 I will look into it, but right now it’s fun enough to walk around and kill stuff and find weapons. One thing about that that is getting on my nerves though is the lack of space in your inventory. But then again, I suppose they figured you’d be walking around with half a dozen people to take care of that.

As for parties/guilds, I haven’t gotten there. It’d be nice if I knew how to do that originally but as this is my first mmorpg, I’m not sure how to go about it other than to go up and invite anyone you see. And from my time online, I’m convinced that pret much 99% of the people are assholes anyway.

That’s why I want level 10, so that if someone DOES screw with me, I can kill ‘em before they kill me.

oh well. good times though. No corpse dragging that I noticed, of course…no parties.

Enough for tonight, time for sleep. 6 AM comes sooner than it should.

PS If you do buy the game, do NOT…I REPEAT DO NOT give that little girl Gwen any help at all. Yes she asks you to find her flute, but if you do, SHE FOLLOWS YOU AROUND WHENEVER YOU WALK INTO HER. That’s my one pet peeve with the game so far…that little girl, and then she stops right behind you, and more times than I care to count I got trapped in an area where it would not move me…the controls leave a bit to be desired.

more tomorrow.

Guild Wars GUILD CREATION!

Ok, I’ve read the manual, and I’m going to start my own guild as soon as I run a couple of missions and see what’s going on.

First thing I’d like to say about this game: The instruction booklet was awesome. i hate computer games nowadays that don’t come with instructions and have them on-disc, or in game, I hate that baloney. Give me an instruction book that’s helpful, and they did so.

Man, I can’t wait to get home.

wheee!

So I’ll post later about my impressions of the game, and the name of my guild.

Guild Wars

new videogame. And I’ve yet to play it. I’m looking forward to it, though. My first MMPORPG.

other than diablo 2, which doesn’t count because the missions were all the same. it was fun though. I was playing it yesterday but then I realized all my papers were done, I should reward myself. And I noticed how boring diablo 2 was, so boom. Decided in an instant.

and there’s no subscription fee.

whee!
