if I had known the eventual trouble that just SUDDENLY POPS UP NOW, I think I would not have pursued education at BSU last year.
But as it stood last August, I had $6000 extra to cover for Pacifica, and BSU just happened to be willing to give me that.
So I decided to go to both schools.
Now it kicks me in the ass.
This year, on my aid application I signed up that I was going to go to two schools at once. BSU noted that and apparently checked some ‘database’ that showed last year’s loan amount as well. Then they freaked out. They called this morning, from the financial aid office, and told me out front that they are deleting my aid application to BSU this year. I was like ‘um, ok…I’ve got a GA position now that can cover a little bit for that…’ and then they brought up last year.
Now last year, I applied to BSU for financial aid in May, when I wasn’t going to Pacifica. They awarded me some aid, but I never signed up for the cizzash because I didn’t know if I was really going to go or not. Then pacifica popped up in June, I went to an interview in July, and was accepted in August. I got my aid application in to them first. They never asked about another school. Then I sent in the signed papers for BSU that said I would be attending and I need financial aid. Everything was hunky dory.
until today.
I don’t know if what I did was against the law, and I’m not really sure I care. The fact of the matter is that last year neither school checked against the other(although, that should have been BSU’s job since they were the later one), and I was given the money even when there should have been a flag from some government body or something. There was no flag. So was it illegal? I don’t know.
Also, all I heard from BSU this morning was the phrase “not supposed to”, and ‘”can’t”. They were going to check on stuff for me and get back to me. Apparently, the can’t isn’t so workable, because I DID. and whether or not the ‘not supposed to’ translates into illegal, I’m not certain right now either. I just figured the 18,500 limit was per school which explained why I got more than that for two schools. Maybe BSU is just wrong. We’ll just hope that.
Regardless, since BSU won’t give me any extra loans like last year, I’m going to have to take out a private loan in order to pay for the extra to Pacifica and transportation out there.
No biggy.
Of course, first we’ll see if I go to jail. Of course, if I go to jail, that’ll kick in the clause of the financial aid that says I don’t need to pay them back…and I’m mighty handy with a shiv.
