just sharing the ‘MAC experience’

how the mac killed Hunter Kressel’s inner child hosted on the MCSE Concepts website.

originally found a smaller video linked off of Medistorm.

this video is possibly the most true thing ever said about the MAC.

Barnes and noble….

‘fast and free shipping’

says that once they ship, they’ll be here in three business days(mon-fri) or less…

so Not counting today(which is too bad, because if today counted it’d be totally sweet AND awesome), that means my awesome tasty roman-style books shall be here Monday at the latest. However, they did say OR LESS.

it could be they misspelled ‘ELSE’, I’m not entirely certain how much they have to threaten UPS.

But let’s see: 3 b-days or less, that means, it started in TN, it shouldn’t take more than 24 hours to get to Minneapolis, it may but just a little bit…the total mileage is 908 miles(per mapquest) and then it is a short hop of 5 hours to Bemidji.

Maybe, if I am a good good boy, the books will be showing up on Friday!

Waitaminute…what the hell are ROMAN MYTH BOOKS doing being shipped from somewhere in TENNESSEE!?!?!?!

oh that’s right…they’re a bunch of incestuous inbred gods and such. now it makes sense.

book found!

Yeah, so that book that was lost earlier?

Found it.

Not in the extra rooms. Not in the bathroom. Not in the living room. Not in the kitchen. Not in the kitchen stove. Not in the fridge. Not in the freezer. Not in the assorted cupboards. Not in my room. Not under my bed. Not under my desk. Not in any of the 5 old backpacks laying around. Not in the washer or dryer.

Where was it, one may ask?

Angel had it all along.

you don’t know how much of a relief that is.

a new topic

for my ritual and myth class…we were assigned to read a bullshit article which posited that sacrifice came from man’s insatiable need for violence, and that it acted as a substitute so that civilization would quell the violence within and would not collapse upon itself.

I call shenanigans on that article, by a Rene Girard.

The reason I do so is that in 3 of the MAJOR areas where sacrifice occurred(human or otherwise), they never did it to ‘cure violence’ or to sublimate it. The sacrifices when trying to view it from a homogeneous viewpoint(as Girard is trying to do) leads to such bullshit theories like that, but when you look at the act from within the culture, you see the why of the sacrifice. It makes a certain sense from within the worldview. I’m going to be concentrating on Celtic, Mesoamerican(probably Mexica culture), and Judaic sacrifices to support this idea.

Girard’s problem, I guess, is that he’s trying to desacralize religion enough to make sense of it on an objective human-wide level, to psychologize it.

One thing I’ve learned in my short two quarters in the myth program is this: you CANNOT make complete sense out of people’s religion because it comes from people’s feelings. And feelings can never be explained objectively.

Whoa. this is twisted.

Danny Washington and the Educational Egg.

Learning through violence and swearing.

“Danny washington and educational Egg….they’re going to force learning on you, so you don’t have to beg!”

This cartoon is DEFINITELY NOT work safe. Hell, it might not even be home safe.

an ‘unbiased’ view?

is it just me, or does the guy who wrote this article sound like a condescending ass?

crap.

Ok, I have no idea where that book is. I cleaned my house over the last two months, and you’d THINK that I’d know where the book was if I had seen it….I have the sneaking suspicion it is at my parent’s place however, because I even checked my car.

As such, I’m in deep trouble.

Anyone want to let me borrow their book for a period of 2 hours from noon until class?

This totally sucks.
