I believe I’ve just been brainwashed. Now I’m afraid if I see a little red monkey I’ll get all manchurian candidate on somebody.

Dear Epressing-Day Erd-Nay,
I think it’s been entirely too long since you consulted your M.L.A. handbook!
already I’m a bit spooked…
I haven’t taken the class I’ll be teaching, nor do I have a complete grasp on what I’m supposed to teach.
Crash course begins on August 15th. There wasn’t an interview to ace, to talk about expectations, to deal with all the details that may come upon one when talking about hope for employment. That’ll probably be taken care of in the course though.
People I know are happy for me. One person at work told me that she was(and I quote) “Proud to know you”…People ask how I think I’ll be able to handle the job, people say they’re certain I’ll go on to great things.
My friends are of two minds: One group says they’ll come to class to jeer and mock me all through the hour. The other group says they’ll be my ‘groupies’ and come to class and cheer. I guess they’ll cancel each other out.
I’ve got big expectations from everyone I know to do great things. I’ve got those expectations of myself too. This is a step. But then I think of everything I’ve done so far to fulfill those expectations…even if I did fail, I was only going to mess up my life, my plans. Now I’ll have 22 students depending on me not to fail.
that’s what I’m worried about. Failing, and causing damage to the incidental bystanders.
I promise that I would never use this blog to pollute your computer with viruses and spyware.
Your minds on the other hand…
haydn what’s-his-name says that typecasting is a thing of the past, and that actors don’t need to fear it nowadays. He says he’s not afraid of being typecast as evil or as Anakin skywalker.
It makes sense. I mean, to fear being typecast you’d have to be able to act first.
