Today two STRANGE things happened…

I’ll do it in order of backwards chronology:

In Virginia Woolf class, an idea or two that I brought up was actually listened to, and not dismissed out of hand! I know. I’m as shocked as you!

The first thing today that was bizarre was being told that I was(and I quote) “a diva”

Now, some of you may know the person who may have said this, and I will point out that I have neither said nor done anything angry, mean, untoward or just plain jerkish to this guy in this year, and half of last year. I’ve been damned near polite to him. Well, as polite towards him as anyone really….but diva? Now, looking up the definition on webster.com, we see that diva points to Prima Donna, now I don’t fit the first definition there, so let’s look at the second:
2 : an extremely sensitive, vain, or undisciplined person

Well, I’ll admit that I’m arrogant, but I don’t quite know if that applies to vanity as well, as I figure I’m about average on the looks scale, somewhere between skunk’s ass and garbage truck wheel…and here’s where this guy made the error. I’m an arrogant asshole, NOT a diva. So after I was done laughing at being called a diva, I was asked to shake hands with him, so I held it out and said ‘well, from one diva to another’….

he refused to shake my hand, noting quite vehemently that he was not a diva, and was one of the most humble people around.

yeahhhhh

MAC Creator dies…

at age 61…officials are not ruling out foul play.

According to one leading investigator: “Well, we’ve pretty much ruled out computer viruses, hackers usually don’t attack this kind, they’re not as easy as windows creators…but speaking of windows, we’ve got some very pressing questions we’ll be asking Mr. Gates…”

relaxed

so relaxed in fact, that I’m thinking about writing my take on what has happened to my life in the last 10 months…a take that shows something other than blind luck or good planning.

and a song just came up on my playlist, semisonic’s “Closing Time”…interesting.

And I’ve got to give them the FROYD© Award for best use of “You can bet your bippy” so far in my life.

Is it too much to ask…

to have a coworker that WILL SHUT UP!!?!?

I swear, this guy jabbers about anything and none of it makes any sense or logical connection.

it is like he doesn’t have an internal thought process, it must all come out of his mouth.

some people complain about working with certain types of women who will yakyakyakyakyak…in comparison I’d rather work with that type than this guy. At least I can tone them out. They don’t REQUIRE feedback…this guy does. He won’t stop needling you or asking questions every other statement. I wish he’d just stop.

This is sick.

this article says that certain offenders of common decency should not face court action.

Funk Dat. I say castration. AT THE VERY LEAST.

Perhaps putting out their eyes and chopping of their hands as well.

I feel no compassion towards people like that AT ALL. And that is what makes me a bad person I suppose.

Star Trek: Just die already…

Trekkies are trying to save Enterprise, and are rallying all over the world.

According to the article, fans say that “the Star Trek franchise as a “cultural icon”.”

FINE. So be it. Cultural Icon sure. But so is the statue of liberty. And would you allow the statue of liberty to be remade so that she was bending over with immigrants pouring out from her mouth as if she were puking? And for the record, that is just a hilarious image.

No. So why do you allow such a travesty to happen to the ‘cultural icon’ that is Star Trek, and try to keep around whatever horrendous ‘re-envisioning’ of the series is on television?

To sum up: Trekkies…JUST STOP.

Baking day

today on the menu:
4 loaves brown bread
1 loaf olive bread
1 batch cupcakes

so consequently, the house won’t get cleaned again!

However, if people were so inclined, they could come over this evening around 7 when the loaves are fresh from the oven and sample some tasty tasty bread. Just leave a comment, or call or somethin’ if you intend to.

also, no making fun of my lack of house cleaning.

this doesn’t happen often…

that I will link directly to someone else’s blog, because I assume that since everyone out there is sort of intelligent at the very least(hey, they found MY blog!) they’re reading most of those blogs to the right.

I’d like to give a shout out to this post by Sueanne that definitely hits the nail on the head about the ‘counter suzanne’ craze going on.

Again, I’m just going to point to the lower post, and note that I should’ve bolded the line about if you don’t like it, just let it rest.

That seems to be something that the anti-suzanites are avoiding.

Here’s what I don’t get: Why there is sucha violent backlash over this thing…the lutheran campus center has had their little things, the IV x-tians have had their get togethers, and for christ’s sake, the idiot frat and sorority houses have had things INFINITELY more stupid going on.

Why such an angry backlash about this? Is it because religion is a sore spot for people?

the more I see the reaction to it, the more that I’m thinking the suzanites were right to do this, if only to bring up the point that people STILL feel strongly about God, whether or not they want to admit it. Or whether or not they notice it.

Or maybe it’s just people feeling intolerant. The good Lord knows there’s plenty of that to go around.
