more on fable

REALLY unimpressed with this game. I still haven’t figured out how to use the expressions, nor the easy way of changing targets. The combat is pretty crappy, and the magic is goddamned weak.

I am not pleased with this game so far.

Fable

In most games like this one, I go through the game on the good side. The goody-two shoes who helps EVERYONE in the game is me. usually because it makes the game more difficult and longer, as helping people out involves a lot of running and quests. As well, it is difficult for me to be good on the level that these games require. When a sarcastic evil comment like “Maybe you should sell yourself as a slave to stay with your daughter, because obviously you are retarded to gamble money you don’t have” comes up, it is difficult for me to pick “Don’t worry, I’ll go save your daughter from the people who stole her to make up for the money you owe them”

I mean, especially in a game where it doesn’t reflect on real life, where you can say what you want and be as mean and nasty as you wish. Who wouldn’t be that mean? Now comes the problem with Fable:

I don’t care one way or the other whether people in the game think nicely of me or if they run and cower in fear. I think it is because the game is all shiny and soft coloured and so far respectful. And then there are the damned accents.

Now, they didn’t take GOOD brit accents, except for one or two people. Rather their accents involve people who speak like Eliza from My Fair Lady, and just general guttersnipes ranging from Ireland to Wales to Scotland.

It doesn’t so much bother me, but the game’s plot is so hackneyed and dull, it just doesn’t inspire me to feel any need to be nice to the people in the game.

I think I’ll just be evil.
