Doing Taxes

man, I was entering numbers, checking credits and deductions and overall smackin’ the federal tax upside its head for charging me so much. Then I get to Minnesota.

Apparenlty, while I get 100% back from the feds, I only get back 1/3rd of what I paid in for MN. Thanks Uncle Tim! Fascist.

Anyway. Filed ‘em. Expect cash within 10-14 days.

Man. I was like a certified public accountant, except without the certified public.

SELF Loans

Pray that you do not get Firstmark Services to get yoru loan, if you have a SELF loan for school. I just spent about 15 minutes on hold with them to ask if my loan was in principal repayment status. The reason I did this:

A) I paid them $200 back in September, and then they had me paying monthly for a while.
B) Suddenly, from the monthly required payments, I don’t owe them anything until March.
C) I want to set up a way for them just to deduct what I owe from my savings account
D) On their website, they say that SELF loans can’t be deferred.
E) I haven’t received any piece of mail from them in quite some time.

APPARENTLY, my loan is ‘in-school’ status. I guess that’s just like a deferrment where I’m paying off just the interest every quarter. *shrug* no big deal, but still. It’d be nice for their website(which is one of the most poorly designed crappily built sites I’ve ever seen) would make that clear. Seems that the problem is that Firstmark Services handles quite a few different loans, so they can’t get their facts straight.

I don’t know, but if I were them, I’d change things up a bit.
