A decent day ruined

almost before it started. At 11, I went to pick up my paper from Nancy Michael, to see what needed revision, and to turn in a revision of a chapter summary done earlier.

Apparently for the final paper, I need a new one. I got an ‘F’ on that paper. She has given me until wednesday in order to complete it. Now the day is ruined because of the grade obviously, but in addition, I don’t know what to do to fix it.

I’m confused. I am completely baffled as to how to fix it. I talked to her after class during the semester about using some of Freud’s stuff, not anything in the book though. She said that was fine. I turned in an outline showing what I was going to use. She gave it back with some suggestions, and some more people that I should use. So I did so. Of course, in doing so, it changed the entire paper.

I get it back today with angry comments that I didn’t even reference a critic mentioned in class until page 10, and the fact that I referenced him without the Norton’s Anthology book. Albeit, in the syllabus, it says to take a set of the 14 essays covered, and use those. But she never mentioned problems in either the class conversations, or in the outline, or any add on comments in class.

As such, I have no GODDAMNED FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT IDEA OF WHAT THE FLYING HELL SHE WANTS.

furthermore, though I followed suggestions and rules in the MLA style manual, she still did NOT like how I did things, and repeatedly railed on the lack of MLA style manual guidelines.

I’m not so much angry and hurt as I am angry and confused. And she isn’t in her office for me to speak with her right now, so I am not sure what I need to do. I had 8-9 references for a 12 page paper, but she called my bibliography/works consulted/works cited page, and I quote, “scattered and scant”. Yet, if I limit it to a paper or just some essays collected in a book, I won’t even have that many references. I’ll have four.

I’ve got to admit: This is the first time that I’ve been confused over why my paper got the grade it did. And I don’t know how to fix it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Watched that movie last night over burgers with a friend.

It was an ok movie, not a whole lot else to say on it. It wasn’t really great, nor was it really bad.
