Pike’s Peak…Travelblog Update 3.2

Pike’s Peak. 14100 feet high. Here’s what it looks like.

there are apparently bigfoots that you should be aware of on the way up there.

there are animals on the way to the top, usually marmots(which you can see sorta on top the rock here)

and sheep, one of which you can’t really see at all in these pictures, which is too bad. It’ll turn out better on the regular photos I think.

Here I am on top of Pike’s Peak

and here are some odd formations of tire-type growths…

here’s colorado springs:

and here’s the view from the top, the rest of these pics.

Travelblog Update 2.(whatever the hell # we’re on)

I’d just like to point out that Chicago is still the worst station I’ve stopped in, though Grand Junction in Colorado comes close. The thing that one has going for it though is the lighting. It is one of the brightest stations I’ve been in.

The more you know, the less you have to make up.

A pictoral journey through the last couple days.

Because basically nothing happened today, and I was bored with my camera phone.

Driving along in California.

This is my litte brother Erik.

Erik drives crazy sometimes.

I’m just happy I’m still alive!

And then on the bus today…

we stopped at Baker. I had the BEST STRAWBERRY SHAKES I’VE EVER HAD AT THIS PLACE CALLED THE MAD GREEKS!!!!! The temperature was 105. Farenheit. The temperature at which Sean Froyd burns!

Some clouds when leaving Las Vegas.

THis is what some of Nevada looks like on the bus.

THe following shots are some nice shots around Nevada, I was happy with how my camera turned out the pictures…this is the camera in my phone, mind you.

and finally…

Good night, mr. moon…

Travelblog Update 2.1

Yes…the interview…I kicked its ass from one end of the office to the next.

At the end the guy was asking ‘ok, that’s all I got…have any more questions?’

that’s when I said ‘Yeah…YOU WANT SOME MORE PUNK???’

nono, that’s not what happened. Of course, according to the guy I interviewed with, He said that I was for sure in the program. Official notices go out on Friday. That’s right. I’m fucking bad ass. And in 4 years, I’m going to have Ph.D. in Mythological Studies. And with it, I’m gonna kick some ass. Boo yah!

Anyways, on the morrow I’m heading out to Colorado Springs, to hold congress with my cousin there, and set forth the plans to RULE COLORADO. bwahahaha!

After that, over to Lexington, and then up to Washington for the wedding. Uff. lots of travel.

Anyway, back to sittin’ here ridin’ high. wheee!

brain…busted….travelblog update 2.0

well, I’m sitting here in LA after heading out here in a madcap rush to be in proximity to Pacifica for tomorrow’s sugical stri….I mean, Interview. “s gonna rule…if I’m awake and ready enough to deal with shit.

Goddamn. From 1:30CENTRAL on Friday, to 10:30CENTRAL on Sunday, I’ve been on the bus, and for those of you that aren’t too good at math, that’s a whole whoppin’ 57 hours sum total. My head hurts.

On the plus side, even with all the stops in Texas, and in Southern California, none were as bad as Chicago as far as filth and nastiness goes.

Saw a couple of guys get picked up off our bus by border patrol on the way up to LA today. Crazy.

Tired now. Waiting for brother to bring back food and beer. Mmmm….foood……mmmm….sleeeeeep.

Leavin’ on a Bus : Travelblog update 1.3

So, I’m leaving Purdue today at 1:30PM, and spending quality time with some used books that I picked up yesterday, and perhaps the gameboy game that I got.

We saw Anchorman yesterday, and that was one damned funny movie. Steve Carrell was the best guy in that film. “MAKING LOUD ANGRY NOISES!!! I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE SHOUTING ABOUT!”

hahaha. I recommend seeing that flick.

Anyway, we walked all over the campus yesterday, and I’ve got the blisters to prove it. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for some wings and trivia(having gotten 6 wings free because of a movie ticket promo), and after that we went to chumleys for some nachos and a pitcher of amberbock. Good times.

Now we’re just killin’ time until the time of my departure comes.

Side Note: I wish Pacifica would get back to me, because if they can’t set up an independent interview session, I’ve got to hoof it out there over a two day journey to get there Monday morning at 9AM…this of course would be detrimental to the interview because I’d have spent all that time on a bus. Bleh. We’ll see.

Good times!

So this evening we visited a couple bars, avoiding gigantic rainstorms to do so…

one bar had its microbrews and it was pretty cool…I stole a cup holder from them, and then we went to Harry’s Chocolate Shop. It was there that Shane made a pathetic attempt to get laid…and yet failed completely…one was not bored at all…and the other had a tonsillectomy in the morning…(haha!) Now, if you, as I am, are prevalent in hospital culture, you realize that if you have a tonsillectomy the next day, that you should NOT be drinking…shane though, fell for it…hook line and sinker.

Over all though, I’ve got to say those girls were a 7 out of 10, each of them. NOt really worth anything but to give us something to do.

Also, I used the ‘fake’ credit card this evening, with no trouble at a different bar. Good times!

Now we are back at Shane’s house with no electricity, sitting out on the lawn waiting for the power to be restored…it is really warm in his apartment. Regardless….good times this evening.

Hotter than Hell

Ok, so no electricity at all last night, and the bugs were too bad to sleep outside(trust me, we tried).

So we roasted, practically to death, inside the apartment. Awoke this morn to even MORE non-electricity.

Goddamn hot is what it was. And then we walked downtown, and JESUS CRIMINY. It is really hot here. No wind either, that’s what blows…or in actuality, doesn’t. hahaha.

Anyway, now we’re going to go get a pie and a pitcher…mmmm, salty. Just the thing to replenish all the sweat lost all last night and this morning.

More later, probably, after more shenanigans…purdue styley.

TravelBlog V1.2 : Purdue Styley

So I’m hangin’ with my buddy Shane, and we go to a bar to get some eats and some beers. It is successful, and I go to pay with my credit card. Apparently Indiana doesn’t understand many credit cards…

Waitress:”Um…You’re credit card gave the message ‘Service Interrupted’”

Me:”(Arched eyebrow) What?”

Waitress: “I can’t run the card…”

Me:”Well, that’s odd, ok…try this one instead…”

Waitress:(handing me back original card)”Is this card even real?”

Me:”What? Of course its real!”

Waitress:”It doesn’t FEEL real…”

Me:”Yes, it IS real, and it has been used before…”

I mean, seriously, stupid waitress! Why the hell would I hand you a fake credit card? What, are you dumb as well as ugly? C’mon.

Idiots, Retards, and Drunks

Yes, I’ve run into all of these at once this last evening on the bus, including of course horny horny people hitting on chicks with no care of who is around them, listening.

First part, Idiots: Two guys got on the express bus to Chicago, which was announced that there’d be no stops along the way except for breaks in a couple places. They wanted to go to St. Paul…

they didn’t let anyone know this until about 15-20 minutes AFTER st. paul. Lovely. The bus driver drove back to St. Paul and dropped them off, setting the whole trip another half an hour later than it already was because the first bus was to overpacked for anyone else. These two bring me to my second person…

The mildly retarded. This is actually the person who coined the term ‘idiots’ for these two lovely people. He was quite loud in the fact that the trip was going to be set back quite a ways, and he was already fuming, because he’d have a heart attack if his feet weren’t elevated, they apparently swelled quite a bit. This guy was pretty intolerable, as was the kid sittin gnext to him who was a preppy brat from Park Rapids. Something like 10 earrings in his ears, all at the very bottom, though nothing garish or outmoded. And the brat called someone on his cell phone like 4 or 5 times….during the trip we traveled from 10PM to 5AM. That is why he’s in with the mildly retarded guy. And the fact that they both jabbered like monkeys with bladder problems thoughout the whole trip keeping me awake. My new seatmate also did this, but that was because he yawned a lot…thank goodness that it was just that, rather than the next person on my list…

The Drunk: A grizzled 50 year old(or so), with crutches, with a bad eye, haircut full of gray curls, leater vest on, camoflage duffel bag, and a stench of days old beer and old cigarrettes sat down practically on top of me. Didn’t say hello or anything, or give me a time to scoot over. So I had his intolerable mass sitting on me for the first 20 minutes of the trip. I was not in a pleasant mood at the time. Thankfully, when the idiots got off, and the retard started complaining, the drunk got up and took their seat. That is when the backpacker came up and sat. He was a pretty interesting guy, but a lot of his talk cetnered on bars and the women therein. That is why he is in the drunks section.

And that was the first Longer journey on greyhound! As I write this, I’m en route to Lafayette, where Shane and I will commiserate our stories of woe begotten greyhound trips over some tasty brews, and hopefully breakfast.

Oh yes…Valley Fair yesterday: went on all roller coasters except the yellow one that is shaped like a long U, even the wild thing, and also went up on the power tower. Once gotten used to it, it wasn’t that bad, but it isn’t something that I’ll make a special trip to do any time soon.

Regardless, time to go so sprint doesn’t catch me using their phone as a modem!

Sean Froyd

I am in the cities right now, enjoying some free time and typing on the computer. I do plan to take up the Valley Faire this morning/afternoon to deal with some rollercoasters and swimming.

So far, the greyhound wasn’t all that bad, just some loud vulgar people in back. I feel tonight I’ll probably run into the craziest people, traveling by night and with a 2 hour holdover in Chicago.

It’ll be an adventure…

That’s all for now, time for some fun.

Way to go France!

Way to increase the seemingly anti-semite atmosphere of europe by saying that Ariel Sharon is not welcome in France.

Leave it to the french to completely fall into what he was talking about.

Busy busy

wow. Loads of fun these last couple of days due to work.

Ha. Not.

Anyway, planning continues apace for the greyhound bus tour, and getting the new computer used to me, its new owner. I love the thing so far, able to play all my favorite dos games. it makes me happy. Quite happy.

Just need to finish up with getting a few essentials and pack, and I’m ready to go.

As well, I now no longer need to work tomorrow night so I can hang around and party with the friends on Sunday!
woohoo!
