Garth Nix Sabriel

Y’know how I was worried that he’d pull a Asimov and smoosh the climax and falling action into a few short pages? Guess what HE DID???

All in all, though, a good book. I don’t really want to read the following ones though, at least not right at the moment. It was a good read, but not good enough to make me want to read the next book that focuses on a different pairing.

And that’s something about his books…I notice that the essentials are basically unchanged from the descriptions. Boy and Girl run around and try to save a bunch of stuff.

But all in all, Sabriel was an entertaining read, though short.

An interesting question.

Renee has an interesting question, about if you were offered a caretaker’s job, with room and board, and a room to write, would you take it?

And I’ve gotta say that if it were caretaking for a house, church, building, whatever, then yes I would. I’d have to find some source of income for student loans, but even so. I’d take it, and forget grad school BS for a while.

If it was caretaking of a person….that’d be a different story. I don’t know if I’d be strong enough to do that.

Sunday happenin’s

all righty. I went ot the Punisher and Kill Bill Vol. 2 last night, and since I’d seen kill bill vol 2 before, it wasn’t that great. except for the fact that the whole scene with esteban I saw my friend Dave in there. It was priceless.

The Punisher was better than Hellboy. And I really enjoyed Hellboy. The Punisher was just downright violent, though, and the plot was pretty tight. I was impressed.

So today I get to go to work. I’ve gotta finish reading sabriel by Garth Nix…so far I’m impressed with that book, and how well he writes it. I’m getting near the end, and I just hope he doesn’t pull that Asimov bs about 304 pages of rising action, 1 page climax, 1 page resolution. I HATE that.

Anyways. Tonight : go to the ‘rents house for supper, and get ready for a presentation in Blog class tomorrow.
