Fire Emblem on the GBA

Wow, its moments like these that remind me why I love video games. My avatar’s name in the game is pops, I”m a tactician of sorts commanding my units.

“No, please…you don’t have to do this…its too dangerous!”

“Pops thinks we can do this, otherwise we wouldn’t be here. I’m sure that the decision wasn’t made lightly…”

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Crazy person! I didn’t even think before pressing the A button! You’re doomed…DOOMED!!!

as if I’d think about how difficult something was in the video game before doing it.

Ah….the last game I had this good a laugh at was Super Mario Bros. Super Star Saga. That game was hilarious.

A somewhat funny idea

I’ve noticed that a great many female bloggers out there talk at least once a month and at great length about the feminine ability to bleed for three or four days without dying. Also known as menstruating. Talking about this seems to foster a bond among the women, due to its shared experience and shared hassle.

It makes me wonder, what do males have to offer as far as bodily function problems that could possibly bring us together and give us a sense of comraderie?

I’ve thought and thought, but then I decided that there really isn’t anything of comparative hassle to that of menstruation. In fact, the closest thing we males have in the hassle area is the hard-on. There I’ve said it.

But I’d think that this is not comparable whatsoever, because of the frequency of the hard-on. Many males have it several times a day, and while there are steps to take to solve the problem, it always comes back again. And if males decided that talking about this would increase the sense of comraderie, well…talking about it all the time would be really disturbing.

So, in a sense, you women should be thankful for your menstruation problem. Not only does it mean you can bear children, but it also means that you all have a common problem, and that happens once a month, and that talking about will make you feel better and closer to your women friends.

That’s why we men talk about things other than bodily problems…because our bodily problems happen ALL the time.

Things are beginning to look up….

So today, I go to my classes. I dropped Donovan’s class, and feel pretty happy about that. No more hassle there, and I can be happier all around because of that. I actually got some stuff done for the hypertext assignment in Advanced Web Design.

In fact, I’d have to say the only low point of the day was People and the Environment. Stupid waste of time. Oh well. After that I came home and practiced for Kumdo, I had to test up for my next level tonight.

And I passed…but I wasn’t pleased about it. It was the only test where I choked on certain techniques. Of course, this had to do with the fact that I was told that I’d be testing today roughly 2 weeks ago, and finally getting all of the ones I’m supposed to know taught to me last week. Passing leaves a sort of bad taste in my mouth…but if anything, I’ve learned that I don’t want to go through that again so I’ll be training harder.

So, all in all, a good day. A couple of Notes here:

Renee, in response to this post, whazzat?

Natasha, eventually you’ll be able to escape Bemidji…just like me!

AT Josh, I wish I had the power to influence women that you do…

Joshes Everywhere, sometimes I wish I were a Josh, but then I remember that being a Sean is so much better. And besides…I’ve got a cousin named Josh.

To everyone else: My weeks starting to get better, yours will be as well…soon.

Body image over substance?

C’mon folks. You know you’ve been unduly influenced by commercials and society’s view of how a body should look when you want to give your mermaid statue bigger breasts and smaller hips.

What’s actually REALLY funny about this is that it was suggested by a woman.

X-RAY EYES FOR POLICE!!! RUN!!!!!!

Wow. Police in Britain now have an X-Ray scanner that effectively scans through clothes.

That’s pretty crazy, man. Its like superman, except, y’know…non-super. People say its more invasive of people’s privacy, but c’mon…its either this, or a pat down. And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be scanned from a safe distance by someone whom I can’t see laughing at me, than felt up by a cop.

*shudder* This is of course never going to happen to me, unless my revolution doesn’t go as planned.

Viva La Froyd Revolucion!

Regarding the last post…and then this post

So, I was upset about the lawsuit in the last post, and then I read that Russia won’t force a citizen to return a painting to the germans, because the businessman broke no russian laws.

Thank goodness that there is some common sense still in the world. The germans are upset about the fact that one of its treasures is in another’s hands, so they bitch and moan and slap criminal charges on him. But Russia, OF ALL PLACES, decides to say ‘no’ and protect personal property.

What makes this even better, is that the businessman offered to sell the painting back a year ago for a reasonable sum of money, which Germany turned down. What I’d like to personally find out is how many treasures from other countries still reside in German hands from world war 2, that they’d be unwilling to give up.

ah….to see common sense in action in other places is a warming light to my soul.

I despise illogical people

Slave defendants are suing Lloyd’s of London, but “We have to make sure that the focus does not shift from the broad, deeper understanding of reparations to just one of financial compensation,” he(the lawyer) said.

You lying sonofabitch. If it wasn’t about the money, why the hell are you taking them to court? The people in control of Lloyds of London aren’t the same people who guaranteed insurance for the ships. Lawsuits like this make NO SENSE unless they are about the money, and even when they ARE about the money its low brow.

Goddamn. How about my Irish ancestors sue Norway for allowing Vikings to raid and pillage?

Goddamn. So in closing, to the lawyers and the people who were never slaves: WHAT THE FUCK????

this is one crazy article

I’d have to say that this article on the use of men is one of the most strange that I’ve ever read.

A taste of how he describes reproduction:
“How can two old and decayed pieces of protoplasm (mothers and fathers, as we call them) get together and, with remarkably little effort, generate a new, rejuvenated, one? “

wow, makes me look forward to sex!

former post that lasted all of 5 minutes

Ok there was a post here about violence against women, and I took it down.

Am I chickenshit? No, I had written something out that put the blame for violence at both the feet of the individual man and the individual woman.

Erin immediately replied lambasting me for not being a woman so I had no idea what they would be going through, and saying that the Man is the one who should be blamed completely and utterly. I replied to that and said that erin isn’t a man so couldn’t lay blame completely on the man because it takes two to tangle.

I decided then and there that NEITHER OF US knew exactly what was going on, and in the cases of abuse, it should really be taken as singular and unique in how things happen. I believe that both of us were vastly oversimplifying the problem, and thusly took the post down.

One thing that I’m sure EVERYONE agrees on: violence against women is one of the worst and most despicable actions that could ever happen.

if I were catholic, I’d go to a monastery

I’m tired. Tired of dealing with A) schools, B) friends, C) internet, D) life in general.

A) Waiting to hear from grad schools, to find out that your backup plan that you had is now kaput, due to favoritism among the teachers.

B) some people who you know you want to be less than friends with, and some whom you know who you want to be more than friends. *sigh*

C) Website hassles.

D) Life is just getting me down, having bad stuff pile up in the space of 4 days is a tiring experience.

Is it escapism to want to get out? If so, then escapism isn’t bad at all. In fact I rather enjoy it.

Violence

If there’s one thing that is ingrained within me it is a very strong abhorrence of both violence against women and violence against animals.

I cannot willingly hit either, and the only times that violent physical action has happened against either, it was a reflex action against an assault on myself. In the case of women, the girl hit me, and in the dog’s case, the thing bit me.

Even though…afterwards, I was ashamed.

ahhh….much better.

Things are much better now that my site is working again. I don’t know if I can describe how it felt to be suddenly without something that was used everyday for the last 4 years, something that your friends and others use for direct communication with you.

A place that served as a gathering spot, for argument and fun. A place that was a gateway to other places on the world wide web.

Suddenly gone, and with nothing you could do about it for a short time. I’d imagine it could be likened to a favored restaurant, or bar, or library being closed down without notice.

I could not communicate…I had been silenced…not only on the blog here(which is admittedly new, so its absence was not felt so keenly), but on the comment board(where all my friends in other places meet and discuss) and on my email. I missed several emails sent to that address, probably won’t ever see any of them again. Apologies to Natasha and any one else who tried to send an email to that address.

A virtual tongue, eyes, and ears, cut off. And the most frustrating thing about it was the inability to change it. *shudder*

It hurt.
