*breathe in, breathe out*

The last couple weeks have been REALLY hectic. Finished up another grad class with group work, got a new TV, moved the old one to the GF’s house, got hit by a ton of grading, moved computers back and forth to have things hooked up appropriately, started another grad class with even MORE f’ing group work, and just been busy each and every weekend for the last few.

Also, I’ve been on pain meds for the gout.

Things have started slipping around here as far as normals go…I haven’t put away my laundry in a few weeks, just having it piled up in a chair…this isn’t really anything new, I do that a lot. But the dishes are starting to pile up with only occasional dents in the pile. I have grapes to make beer and peppers to pickle but I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet. I am behind on NaNoWriMo. I am in the middle of a bunch of books and haven’t updated the sidebar recently (though I probably should do that while I’m here bitching and complaining).

And of course hunting starts up this weekend.

I’ve started to react to things irrationally: seriously considering dropping out of my grad program, overreacting to a character death in a tabletop RPG (like swearing off gaming with the group), wanting to curl up in a ball and just unplug from the outside world for a good long while.

I’m reasonably certain it’s a combination of the pain meds and the amount of stuff I’ve had to do with classes I’m taking. They tend to trip my LOTS OF THINGS TO DO METER. I just need to monitor the situation so I don’t flip out on some poor soul.

I tell you what, though, if I get a full time job somewhere, I am dropping out of the MS in Education program for the time being. That’s a more than full time job on its own.

  1. I’m hearing mostly good things here, hang in there bud! On the other hand I thought I was the busy one! I tell you what bro, Breathing is Monster GOOD Medicine. I’ve had to do a ton of it this Year! I have had the best Non Profit full time Volunteer Job turned full time, full pay, full benefits Job Land of my Life! I’m now a Resident Manager for the Fort Collins Housing Authority. Make my own hours (40 Floating), schedule my own appointments, hold House meetings once a month, and also handle Case Meetings for the 15 Residents I’m in charge of. Keep tabs on Maintenance Issues, organize Grow Project Mentoring in Gardening on the property. Have my own apartment and my own office in the same building which takes up the entire front of the SRO (Single Room Occupancy) Household. I’m basically a middle man Messenger Between Residents and three Inter Hiearchy Agencies (FCHA – Catholic Charities – Villages Property Management). We as staff hold one weekly 2 hour meeting in a round table discussion about rules and regs as well as new candidates moving into the program. Most folks trying to get in wait about a year and a couple of months. Residents pay 30% of their annual income and have nice perks like 2 monthly Food Bank runs for the House Kitchen. Food items that I choose in store for pickup and I deliver to the SRO. We have a fund of petty cash used for Holiday niceties for everyone. There are two SRO Households. As resident Managers we are responsible for both Households on Weekends and during one anothers’ PTO time off. I pay no Electricity, Rent, Cable-Internet. I receive close to 10 dollars and hour compensation and full insurances. It is the most challenging albeit rewarding job of my life.

Life is GOOD 🙂 If your ever in Colorado or know anyone who would like to visit for a week or two, my place is they’re place.

I apologies for being off the grid so long, I was highly stressed during the hiring process + my biological father passed away.

God Bless my Friend. I needed to make changes in my life, and I was ready to settle down instead of just traveling all the time.

PS, I’m taking a week off during Thanks Giving in Bemidji. My first time off in 8 months of work. I am so ready for Friends and Family.

I’m always happy to happen across your personal data base collection of thoughts here. They keep me focused when I need it.
